Do you own a pair of Louboutin’s that need repair? Or are you considering investing in pair but you’re concerned about the precious red bottoms? This is my review of two Christian Louboutin shoe repair experiences in New York City.
Can you think of a sexier brand of shoes other than Louboutins’? The fiery red bottoms are worn by everyone in Hollywood including Niki Minaj, Blake Lively, Cardi B, Selena Gomez, Amy Adams, Kerry Washington – just to name a few!
So, If you own a pair or are purchasing a future pair then you know firsthand (or you should know!) that their precious red soles are incredibly delicate. As a result of this delicacy, the chic red paint eventually becomes scoffed and worn out over time. It’s a disappointing situation, given how costly these shoes are! But do not fret, ladies and gents. Some experts specialize in Christian Louboutin shoe repair.
If you’re curious about shoe repair for your sexy red-bottomed heels, keep reading as I share my experience in this post.
Damaged Christian Louboutins in desperate need of shoe repair
After setting aside my sad, scoffed Louboutin’s for some time, I decided to have them repaired. Like a parent seeking out a pediatrician for their child, I searched for a shoe repair to trust with my Loubies.
After much research and googling ‘Louboutin shoe repair NYC”, I came upon Vince’s Village Shoe Repair in SOHO. Their website states, “Servicers of shoes, bags, and beyond.” There is even a photo of a burned MCM backpack repaired as new! In addition to stellar Yelp reviews, their Instagram has un-curated pics demonstrating their hand-crafted work @vincesvillagecobbler.
A glowing experience at Vince’s Village Cobbler Shoe Repair Shop
Their shop on Sullivan Street near Prince Street is your necessary run-of-the-mill shoe repair store. Behind the counter are two cobblers working beside rows of tools, machines, and plenty of SHOES. Luckily, the owner, Vince, was present when I brought in my damaged heels. He is kind enough to offer some pointers about shoe repair.
I hand him my worn-out, unwearable Louboutins, and this is what he shares with me:
“When we fix shoes, we focus on the heels and soles of the shoes– the two parts that become worn out the most. Minor repair is all it takes to get the shoes back into a beautiful shape.” I then gave Vince my email and phone number. He’ll contact me when they are ready for pick-up. See the photo of before and after repair.
A few days later, I received an email with my shoes ready for pick-up! So I head downtown to SOHO. Vince is behind the counter again–(YAY!), and I ask him more about shoe repair. He happily explains, “I’ve added Casali Vera red soles to your shoes. These are popular soles for Louboutin’s. They offer a good grip, keep the soles red, and don’t wear off as you walk. When the original sole of a Christian Louboutin is scoffed and worn, and you add a sole protector, it does not interfere with the shoe’s value. I always recommend it.”
“These expensive, these is red bottoms.”
Cardi B.
My old shoes now look and feel like new Louboutins.
Next, I tell him how beautiful my heels look and how grateful I am for his craftsmanship. I also asked about the heel tips since mine had screws protruding out the bottom–yikes! Vince explains, “Heel tips can last for one year, depending on how much one wears the heels. Customers change out heel tips once a month, but on average, I recommend changing them once yearly.”
You can also see a few scuff marks on the heels. Vince explained that he’d have to replace the heel to repair the minor scuff marks. It’s not worth repairing, as it’s very costly.
In conclusion, I am SO happy with my newly repaired shoes. They look shiny, new, and RED again.
Repairing your Christian Louboutins’ is an investment
If there’s damage from wear and tear on your designer shoes, the bottom line is to invest in a repair. It’s the smart thing to do. Not only does it expand the life of your shoes, but it’s also sustainable, AND it saves you money in the long run.
Do you own a new pair of Louboutins (and fear destroying them)? Learn from my mistake – get them covered for protection.
My fiance gifted me a pair of black patent very prive pumps (black patent photo above) for last year’s birthday. Before even considering wearing them, I had them covered at Vince’s. The approximate cost for the protective covering is $65.
Are you located outside of NYC? Vince can repair your shoes remotely via shipping. Check out their Vince’s Village Cobbler website for all your repair needs. (Full disclosure: Vince did a stellar repair on my nude high heels in exchange for this post in 2021. I paid for the additional cover-job on my black prive’s anonymously in 2022. Both jobs were equally high in quality.)
